WHAT IS A BD?
PERSISTENT DATA
should call persistent data in a BD. This is intended to suggest that information of a BD differs from other types of information whose nature is to some extent temporary.
· Inputs : refers to information that goes on for the first time. This information could lead to a modification of persistent data (could become part of the latter), but in principle it is not part of the database itself.
· output data : refers to messages and results emanating from the system. This information could be derived from persistent data, but is not considered itself as part of the database.
BD Definition: A BD is formed by a set of persistent data used by application systems of a company (any organization) determined.
Today's businesses often keep two different BD, one with operating data and other data for decision support. The database of decision support often contains information summary (totals, averages), which is periodically removed from the database operational.
